Wilfred Flores Sr. died peacefully November 1, 2022 at his home in Lawton.
Wilfred Flores Sr. was born May 20, 1954 in Floresville, Texas to Modesto Flores Jr. and Victoria Flores (nee Alvaroda).
After graduation from Poth High School, Wilfred joined the U.S. Army with assignments in various Pershing Missile units in Europe and on Fort Sill, Oklahoma. As the Unit Operations Sergeant, he was directly responsible for integrated unit training and implementation of the first operational Pershing II firing battery in Germany. He retired as a Sergeant First Class after 20 years of service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He obtained an Associate’s degree in General studies from Pikes Peak Community College, Colorado Springs, Colorado. After which, he was employed as a civil servant at Fort Sill Directorate of Engineering and Housing, and later as a contract employee. He later attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a discipline in Environmental Science. He was later employed as an adjunct faculty member.
Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Edward James Flores and John Anthony Flores; and his son, Corporal Wilfred Flores Jr. (U.S. Army).
Survivors include his ex-wife Vicky Ellen Flores (nee Baugher) of Lawton Oklahoma; Sisters Kathleen Ann and husband David W. Wilkins of Bedford Texas, Diana Gaye and husband Daniel McLaughlin of Arlington Texas, and Jo Anne Embleton of Tyler, Texas; daughter Theresa Marie Surface of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren Hailey Marie Siegrist, Alexia and Elizabeth Surface, and Wilfred Gaige Berg.
