Jo McElroy Jennings, age 90 of Wichita Falls and formerly of Lawton passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Wichita Falls.
Jo was born on May 24, 1929 in Blair, Oklahoma to Dora Lee and Ada Amie (Shockler) McElroy. She died on February 22, 2020 in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 90. Jo was raised and attending school in the Blair area of Oklahoma. On April 12, 1947, Jo married Doyce Jennings. Doyce preceded her in death in 2010, after almost 63 years of marriage. Jo and Doyce spent their 50th wedding anniversary in Saudi Arabia, traveling through much of the Middle East and along the Nile River. Jo considered this to be one of the highlights of her life. Jo worked as a receptionist at Park Clinic, in Iowa Park, Texas until her retirement in 1991. Jo spent the last 10 years of her life as a resident at Texhoma Christian Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jo served as President of the Residents Committee until her death. She was well loved by both the residents and staff. In her free time, Jo enjoyed playing solitaire, dominoes, and word find puzzles but most of all, she loved spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and one brother, Jo is survived by two daughters, Valleri Plowman and husband Matthew of Lawton, Oklahoma and Dr. Joanni Sailor and husband Randy of Lawton, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Second Lieutenant Mattew McKissack and wife Tara of Iowa Park, Texas and Jenifer Anne Sailor of Lawton, Oklahoma and three great-granddaughters – Cameron Grace Brookshire-Reams, Marcy Jo McKissack, and Jessie Rose McKissack all of Iowa Park, Texas along with numerous other relatives and close friends.
