Eleanor R. Straub, age 82, of Duncan passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at her residence.
Eleanor R. Straub was born November 21, 1937, she departed from this earth to be with her heavenly father on April 15, 2020. She was the daughter of Rufus and Verdilla Markel from Winfield, Pennsylvania. She lived on a farm during her childhood days. She graduated from Selinsgrove High School, during her last year in school, she went on a blind date with her sister and met her soul mate for life, William. On June 3, 1956, William D. Straub and Eleanor R. Markel were married and would spend the next sixty-four years together. During the time they were together, they had three children Billy, Debbie and John. She was a housewife in the early years while the children were going to school and growing up. Teaching them how to cook and how to keep their rooms clean. The family started to go to church and she accepted the Lord into her heart. She loved spreading his word around to everyone. She was a Sunday School Teacher, News Goods Teacher and belonged to Eastern Star and Rebecca's, always trying to find ways to help other people. Once the children were grown up, she took on a job with Arrow Shirt factory for a couple of years. Then she started to work at Sun Home taking care elderly people. There were many things she enjoyed doing, such as camping, hunting, fishing, plating cards and baking all kinds of cookies, pies, cakes and canning fruits, vegetable. Making sure her family would have plenty food all year. She was loved by many people and will be dearly missed. She could make you laugh over some the silly sound she had made or from one of her comments or jokes, just like her father.
Preceded in death is Father Rufus Markel, Mother Verdilla Markel and Son John R. Straub, Eleanor is survived by her husband, William D. Straub of Cache; sister, Dorothy Harvey and Bob Sunbury of Pennsylvania; brother, Junior and Lori Markel Williamsport opf Pennsylvania; son, William and Sherry Straub II of Cache; daughter, Debbie and AJ Terzian; grandchildren, Susan, Thomas, Tiffany Terzian, Travis, Daphne Straub and many more family members and friends.
