On Wednesday August 5, 2020, Clayton M. Wixey, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at the age of 67.
Clayton was born on July 30, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama to Henry Wixey and Bonnie (Lovelace) Weaver. Clayton was a retired military soldier, and a retired truck driver. Clayton married his wife of forty-eight years, Mercedes Wixey, and they raised four beautiful children together, Felicia, Ann, Joseph and Dorsey. Clayton served twenty years in the U.S. Army with tours of duty at Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Carson, Colorado, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, Berlin Germany, Fort Ord, California. He served one combat tour in Iraq. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Middle East Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Expert Marksmanship Medal and many written commendations for outstanding service. He was respected and loved by many. Clayton loved to go fishing, buying and trading old cars and watching the Denver Broncos, but most all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his step-father, Sam Weaver; his mother, Bonnie (Lovelace) Weaver; his son Clay Dorsey Wixey and special nephew, Pedro Contreras Jr., Clayton is survived by his wife, Mercedes Wixey of Lawton; daughters, Felecia (Clayton) Anderson of Lawton and Ann (Rocky) Venegas of Lawton; one son, Joseph Wixey of Lawton; his brother Kenny (Cheryl) Weaver of Williamstown, NJ.; seven grandchildren, Anthony Gonzalez, Alex Gonzalez, Phillip Rivera, Alex and Dorsey Dill, Ileahna Wixey and T.J. Cooper and two great-grandchildren, September Dill and Kimiya light feather Gonzalez along with a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
