<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.whineryhuddleston.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/157_143953.jpg" alt="Bill Messer" />Billy Jo Messer was born January 8, 1941 in Bulger, West Virginia to James and Jewell (Smith) Messer.  He died at a local hospital on May 18, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 72.  Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Grace Fellowship, officiated by Kirk Pierson, pastor.  Burial will be at Post Cemetery at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.  
He attended the local schools in West Virginia, graduating from Duval High School.  After graduating from high school he enlisted into the US Army where he had a long recognized career in communications that lasted over twenty-seven years.  He served two tours of combat in Vietnam; he also served in Germany, Korea and had numerous stateside assignments including Fort Sill, Oklahoma.   During his career he was awarded the following awards; Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal Ninth Award, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Humanitarian Service Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon w/Numeral Four, Four Overseas Service Bars, Marksmanship Badge (Rifle M-16).  While stationed in Hanau, Germany in 1962 he met Erika Bendel, and when he left Germany in 1964 he brought Erika back to his hometown in West Virginia where they were married. In February they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  After his military retirement he went to work in the shipping and receiving department for Sears until his second retirement.  He enjoyed being in the outdoors where he could go camping, fishing, and hunting.  He always enjoyed watching the wildlife around him even if it was in his backyard.  He always enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends.  He is preceded in death by both parents James and Jewell Messer.
He is survived by his wife Erika of the home; a sister, Linda Adkins and husband Charles of Alkol, WV.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.whineryhuddleston.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/157_143662.jpg" alt="Basil W. Simmons" />Basil Wayne Simmons was born on September 20th, 1919 to Elmore Henry Simmons and Sara Portress Simmons in Hampton County, South Carolina.  He left this world to be with his lord and savior on the 14th of May, 2013 at the age of 93.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on May 20, 2013 at Whinery-Huddleston Chapel. Interment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK.  Visitation will be 3-5 PM, Sunday, May 19th 2013 at the funeral home.
He started life as most children did in the 1920s, working in the fields alongside his father and 10 siblings.  He enlisted in the Army in March of 1941 and was chosen to be in prestigious 17th Airborne Division, 507th PIR. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and participated in Operation Varsity, the crossing of the Rhine, in March of 1945. It was in this campaign where he was awarded the Bronze Star for valor while fighting in the Ruhr Valley. He also fought in Korea in 1950. He retired in 1967 and operated several local businesses before finishing his working career out with Commercial Distributing Inc. in 1982 as an auto parts distributor. He was an avid hunter, golfer and he truly enjoyed watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys during football season. He was particularly proud of his Masonic 32nd Degree from his lodge in Guthrie, Ok.  Finally, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  He was a genuinely honest and personable man who was liked by all and never met a stranger. He loved to laugh and was always upbeat and cheerful despite the health issues he faced later in life. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his 9 siblings, and a daughter, Annie Marie Simmons.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.whineryhuddleston.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/157_143606.jpg" alt="CSM Carroll Eldredge Horton" />Carroll Eldredge Horton was born December 4, 1930 in Lambert, Mississippi to Reetie E and Willie Horton.  He died in a local hospital with many family members and friends at his bed side on the morning of May 13, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was 82 years of age.  Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel.  Interment will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma with full military honors. A reception for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Carroll grew up with his family in Mississippi where he attended local schools and graduated from Lambert High School.  Shortly after his graduation he enlisted into the US Army where he had an illustrious career for twenty-six years.  He fought in two combat arenas, Korea and Vietnam. He also served in Germany and many state side assignments including Fort Sill.  During his career he was awarded the following awards: Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Army of Occupation Medal-Japan, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.   In 1953 met Margie Thompson while he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. On January 17, 1954 he took her to his home town in Mississippi and married her.  After his military retirement he returned to school and received a bachelor&#039;s degree in Business Administration from Cameron University in 1978.  He took a position with the Veteran&#039;s Administration in the medical department and remained there until his retirement in 1987.  He loved to fish for anything that lived in the water and hunt for anything that lived in the forest.  He was preceded in death by both parents, Reetie and Willie Horton; brother, Eugene Horton; sister, Frances Williams.          
He is survived by his wife, Margie L Horton, of the home; son, Curtis Horton, of Hominy, OK; daughter, Carolyn Ray, of Midwest City, OK; three grandchildren, Daniel Horton, of Lawton, OK, Christie Weir, of Denton, TX, Marcie Weir, of Midwest City, OK; sister, Mary Ann Austin, of Crowder, MS. <description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.whineryhuddleston.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/157_143658.jpg" alt="George DeWolf" />George William DeWolf was born February 24, 1932 in North Platte, Nebraska to Albert Charles and Karrie Marie (Whittaker) DeWolf.  He died in a local nursing home with family members at his side on May 13, 2013 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 81.  Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2013 at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma with Paul Ebisch officiating.  Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, Friday, May 17, 2013 at the funeral home.  
He grew up with his family in Nebraska attending the local schools.  He enlisted in the US Army at the age of seventeen and had an illustrious career that covered a thirty-one year span.  He first served ten years in the Nebraska National Guard, then entered active duty that lasted for twenty-one years, serving in the corps of engineers.  He had one tour of combat in Vietnam and had several other overseas assignments including Germany and  Greenland. He also had several stateside assignments including Fort Sill.  During his military career he was awarded the following awards: Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Medal,  Good Conduct Medal Sixth Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Two Overseas Service Bars, Expert Badge - Rifle.  He met Ethel Lucille &quot;Cookie&quot; Foster in 1952 in North Platte, Nebraska and was married a year later. Cookie died in 1991.  He attended The Great Plains Technology Center to enhance his trade fields and soon took a position at Fort Sill in the Public Works Department as an inspector.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards and very few could beat him at cribbage.  He also loved country and western music, and had met many country artists.   He was preceded in death by wife, Ethel Lucille DeWolf; both parents, Albert Charles and Karrie Whittaker; brother, Arthur DeWolf; two sisters, Alberta Griffin and Barbara Yonker.  

He is survived by his son, Preston DeWolf and wife Kay of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Patty DeWolf of Georgetown, TX, Billie Jo Johnson and husband Robert Lee of Lawton, OK; five grandchildren, Jason Johnson of Lawton, OK, Steven Clark and wife Dana of Liberty Hill, TX, Brian Paul and wife Clarice of Pflugerville, TX, Jarrod DeWolf and wife Lindsey of Lawton, OK, Cody DeWolf of Lawton, OK; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Clark of Liberty Hill, OK, Charli DeWolf and Paisley DeWolf of Lawton, OK, Luke Paul of Pflugerville, TX; one extended Granddaughter, Kaylee Childress of Lawton, OK; two brothers, Donnie DeWolf and wife Carol of North Platte, NE, Charles DeWolf and wife Frances of North Platte, NE; one sister, Donna Hernadez and husband Richard of North Platte, NE; He also had many loving nieces, nephews,  cousins, and extended family members.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.whineryhuddleston.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/157_143721.jpg" alt="Charles Nathan Turner, Sr." />Charles Nathan Turner, Sr. was born on June 13, 1979 in Ada, OK to Harold E. and Tanya G. (Garvin) Turner. He died on May 13, 2013 in Duncan, OK at the age of 33. Services with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Dr. Walter Wilson, officiating. 
Charles was raised and attended school in Duncan and Lawton. He served in the US Navy from 1999 to 2001 and took classes to become an ASE Mechanic after his military obligation was completed. Charles worked in the oil field and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with cars and taking things apart (and occasionally getting them put back together). Most of all, Charles loved his children. He was preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Cecil and Charlotte Garvin, Jack and Alva Turner, and Joe Bonilla.
Survivors include his children, Kayliegh, Charles Jr, Kaydence and Kendra Turner, all of Duncan; parents, Harold and Joanne Turner of Lawton; grandmother, Anna Bonilla, also of Lawton, and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He died on May 11, 2013 at his daughter&#039;s home in Hinesville, GA. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at New Hope Church of God in Christ, 1502 SW Monroe, Lawton, OK with Superintendent Michael W. Cross, officiating. Donald was raised and attended school in Lawton. He graduated from Eisenhower High School where he played football and basketball. He enlisted in the US Army after graduation and was honorably discharged in 1975. After the military, Donald worked primarily as a truck driver until health issues forced him into early retirement approximately 8 years ago. Since that time, Donald has done extensive missionary work for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, making the church his primary focus in life. He loved his family and enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed collecting things, didn&#039;t matter what it was, as long as he could fix it and make it work again, doing mechanic work on family and friend&#039;s cars, and messing with &quot;gadgets&quot;. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Willie Mae Williamson; a wife, Debra Waters, and a sister, Letha M. Williamson.
Survivors include his companion for the past 16 years, Queen Sartin; 3 daughters, Maisha Williamson and Cilia Waters, both of Oklahoma, and Alisha Williamson of Georgia; a son, Donald Waters Jr. of Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Eula M. Benson was born on February 17, 1936 in Hugo, OK to David and Gertrue (Harris) Tyer. She died on May 9, 2013 in Lawton, OK with her family at her side. Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Cache, OK with Reverend David McCracken, officiating and Reverend Jim Myers assisting. Interment will follow at Cache Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held on Monday evening at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM.
Doris was raised in Hugo, OK where she attended Goodland Indian School. She married Ben Benson on November 5, 1951 in Lawton and became a full time homemaker. Doris became an assistant teacher in Lawton Public Schools in 1968 and enjoyed her job watching many children and then their children until her retirement in 1996. Her spare time over the years was filled with a variety of activities. She attended numerous classes at Cameron; was an active and enthusiastic member of Oklahoma Home and Community Education-Heartland Chapter; worked with many community and charitable groups; volunteered with hospice; enjoyed cooking, gardening and get togethers with her friends; kept the books for Ben&#039;s businesses; spent many happy hours with Ben and his horse-drawn coaches participating in area projects; and most of all, loved being a part of a caring and devoted family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, James Benjamin Benson; one brother, Luther Tyer; and 2 sons in law, Ray Reeves, Al Neal and brother-in-law, Kenneth Benson.
Survivors include her husband of over 61 years, Ben; 3 daughters, Donna Bennett and husband Danny of Fletcher, Davonna Neal and her fiance Wayne Alcorn of Lawton, and Charlotte Benson of Wichita Falls, TX; a son, Mike Benson of Lawton; one sister, Sylvia Branson and husband Bob of Dawson, TX; a sister-in-law, Aveneil Williams, Plains, TX; 7 grandchildren, Charley Reeves and wife Cyndi, Cherie Vanlandingham and husband Brandon, Kelli Bridges and husband Darell, Chad Reeves and wife Nellie, Terrie Ann Fort and husband, Pat, CJ Reeves and wife Britteny, and David Luke Reeves; 18 great grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and many longtime friends she loved like family.
