Ricky Lee Hennen, Sr.

Ricky Lee Hennen, Sr. was born on August 29, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred C. and Jean (Farmer) Hennen. He died with his family at his side on May 8, 2012 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was 54. Ricky was raised and attended school in Poplar Bluff, MO. He enlisted in the US Army in 1974 and served on active duty to 1982 when he transitioned to the Army National Guard. Ricky married Rhonda Sonnichsen on February 14, 1983 in Lawton and was employed on Post as a federal locksmith. He was called back to active duty during Desert Storm, and returned to the Guard after his active duty obligation was completed. Ricky retired from the National Guard at the rank of SFC after more than 21 years of service to his country. During this period of time, Ricky received numerous commendations and medals, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Asia Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and many additional National Guard decorations. He worked on Post for the Civil Service until his retirement in December of 2011. Ricky enjoyed throwing darts, playing volleyball and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Hennen.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Rhonda; 4 sons, Michael Wayne Hennen of Poplar Bluff, MO, Ricky Lee Hennen, Jr. and wife Kinsey of Denton, TX, James Michael Hays II and wife Dede of Wasilla, AK, and Cory Allen Hays and wife Julie of Chisago City, MN; a daughter, Rachel Dawn Porter and husband Michael of Lawton; 16 grandchildren; 3 sisters, his twin, Karen Johnson and husband Shawn in IL, Peggy Foster of Cache, and Robbie Thompson of Poplar Bluff, MO; a brother, Fred Hennen, Jr. and wife Judy of Cache; a large extended family, and many friends in Lawton and Poplar Bluff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Ricky Lee Hennen Memorial Fund, PO Box 7079, Lawton, OK 73506.
