Obituary:
Alvis L. Bright was born June 24, 1945 at Nowata Oklahoma to William and Wilma (Muns) Bright. He died on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at a local hospital with his wife and friend at his side, he was 66. At present time there will be no service.
Alvis grew up in in Nowata, Oklahoma, after graduation he joined the US Army where he served till his retirement in 1989 with the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7). He served at many military installations and over several overseas assignments, including Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Fort Carson, Colorado, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Hood, Texas, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. His military awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Third Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, five Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal - Korea, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal. In 1980 Alvis married Bonnie Dively in Wichita Falls, Texas while stationed at Fort Sill in 1979. After a few years of enjoying his military retirement he started working as a small appliance repairman, where he earned a reputation of being the most honest man in the trade. in 2001 he started his own business in small appliance repair until his final retirement in 2008. Alvis may never have passed up a chance to go fishing, but NASCAR was his greatest love. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his parents.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie, a sister Barbra Rose and husband Fred of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a brother William Bright and wife Joyce of Nowata, Oklahoma; two sons Carey Gross of Lawton, and Ronald J Gross and wife Ariana of Palm Coast, FL; two Grandchildren Amayna Gross, and Carey Jennings and wife Lacey of Texas; three great grandchildren Colton Jennings, Knylee Jennings, and Coi Jennings.
